Keeping your battery electronics out of landfill for longer.

We posted on linked recently our successful repair of a battery charger produced in 2004. What’s unusual about that?

Well, the latest products designed for todays market to help with a sustainable future are simply not sustainable. The cheaper imported products, often branded as a quality product with the latest lithium battery have a life we suspect of around 5 years. The repair is often complex due to the design, and so the length of time which the repair takes makes the unit uneconomic from the perspective of the customer. so a new charger is ordered. Depending on your supplier, the delivery could be up to 8 weeks.


The cheaper brands of charger come in for repair and often we find complete circuit boards blown in multiple places. It appears that manufacturers design chargers to fail in a catastrophic manor – making replacement the only option.
That’s just our experience.
Surely, if the lithium battery can last 10 years with a cycle life in excess of 3000 cycles the charger should be able to match?

Unfortunately, electronic components have a cycle life depending on the quality in the design.
The poorer the quality the shorter the life and landfill beckons.


So, if you are serious about making your operation a sustainable one, the better the quality, the longer the life.
Our charger department made the first repair to the Belatron charger in its 22 years of service. Simply a bank of 3 capacitors in the control board and a fuse. That was it!
We then went on to sell the charger with a warranty to a local customer who was very happy indeed with the build quality. We expect another 5 years out of the product.


According to a source from Benning the original Belatron was designed for a 20 year life.
